What to spend your money on

A few days ago, my uncle sent me a New York Times article about how spending money on “stuff” doesn’t necessarily make people happy in the long term. What does make people happy in the long term is spending money on experiences.

The first time I actually heard about this was in my Social Psychology course, where my professor swore to us that if we reallocated our spending towards experiences (such as going to a concert or taking a vacation) and away from goods, we would be happier. Continue reading »

The first programmers were women

My friend Charles tweeted the title of this blog the other day, so I couldn’t help but check the article out. Despite the current trend and view, did you know that the first computer programmers were women and that programming was once dominantly viewed as women’s work?

Back in the mid 1900s, computer programming was seen as a “natural career choice for savvy young women.” This was because managers viewed programming as clerical work (like filing and typing). In search for more wallpapers

I have my Mac set up such that my desktop picture changes every 5 minutes. That means that I’m constantly in search for cool wallpapers to add to my collection of rotating wallpapers. If you have a wallpaper to suggest or know of a good wallpaper website, post a link to it!

Below are my some of my current wallpapers.

Crazy about your Mac?

When my HP crashed during my first-year of college, I thought, “Well, it’s time to get a new computer.” So I got a Dell and I won’t lie, I loved it. But less than two years later, my Dell is currently having over heating problems to the point that it hurts to touch the keyboard.

According to Google, over-heating problems on Dells are not “uncommon.” But to the point that it hurts to touch the keyboards? Needless to say, it’s time to give the Mac a try.

MacPro

Since I secured a paid internship this summer, I’ve made up my mind on getting a 13” Macbook Pro in about 2-3 weeks. (My Adobe Creative Suit is doing a happy jiggle.) So if you’re a proud owner of a Macbook, I want to hear about all your favorite Macbook things. I want to know your favorite Mac programs, shortcuts (geezus, I’m going to have to relearn all my shortcuts!), tricks and so on!

Go crazy.
